Celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)
We were honored to sit down with Tyler DeBoard of WPP to talk about Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD).
Tyler along with Kathy Martinez, Senior Advisor, at Inclusively with lived experience and Sarah Bernard, Inclusively COO, engaged in a meaningful conversation about disability inclusion in the workplace, the importance of accessible design, and how organizations can create more equitable environments for all.
Let’s make GAAD not just one day but everyday! WPP is committed to advancing these principles and we are thrilled to have them as a client.

TRANSCRIPT:
Have, so thank you for, for reiterating that. Um, and when we think about something like a Global Accessibility Awareness day, how do we
00:00
leverage this opportunity, this observance as a meaningful opportunity to continue to advance the accessibility journey and not just view Global Accessibility Awareness Day
00:08
as a one-time event each year? I think just, you know, broadening people’s understanding that accessibility benefits everybody is really, uh, is,
00:17
is a point to, to reiterate as often as you can. You know, we all talk about the curb ramp effect, uh, how
00:27
curb ramps have impacted everybody’s ability to, you know, to get up curbs if, if they’ve got a stroller or a skateboard or a, um, you know,
00:35
they’re carrying lots of documents. So accessibility impacts everybody. It benefits everybody’s personal and work experience. Um, and also I, I think, you know, just being open
00:44
to different ways of doing things, um, there’s a lot of, I think people still say things like, well, we’ve always done it that way.
00:57
We have to think of not only what, what has been invented and what we’re doing now, but what’s possible
01:06
and the, the, you know, the old adage of be the change that you wanna see, I, I think really is important And,
01:14
and uh, it really resonates when you’re talking about disability because disability knows no boundaries in terms of class, race, gender
